In this informative dive into the subject of crisis management, we look
at the core elements of crisis, how decision making under pressure
relies on quality risk management and a culture of good information
management, communication and respect. Other subjects covered
include the role of social media and the internet during a crisis.
SPEAKER: Jason Jarrett – If Not Now Consulting Inc.
Jason has been working in the broad field of disaster management since waking up in a
bathtub, protected by his mattress after a hurricane blew the roof off his home in Hawaii in
September 1992. Since that time, Jason returned to education to gain a first class honours
degree in International Disaster Engineering and Management at Coventry University. Since
then he has been consulting for government agencies in the UK, blue chip and multinational
companies all over the world.
His most recent involvement as the Global Chief Advisor for Business Resilience at Rio Tinto
mining and metals saw incidents covering the 2011 Japan earthquake and the 2014/2015
ebola outbreak in Guinea for which he and his team were awarded best strategy of 2015 in
the annual BCI business continuity awards.
Whilst working with Rio Tinto, Jason emigrated with his family to live in Vancouver. Living
as a permanent resident in BC, Jason is currently working as a consultant to several
companies and supports the resilience work of the United Nations as a subject matter
specialist.
