WHAT: BCRIMA Luncheon - Virtual Online Session

WHEN: January 26th, 2022 - Presentation Start Time: 12:00PM PST / End Time Approximately 1:00PM PST

TOPIC: Climate Change Effects On The Performance Of Linear Infrastructure

This session will explore the effects of natural disasters and climate change on the performance of linear infrastructure assets. Whilst not glamorous, well functioning roadways, water and wastewater systems, underground fiberoptics and energy infrastructure is fundamental to our economy and society. Natural disasters like earthquakes and floods can lead to failures of these infrastructure assets, debilitating transportation, water services provision, electricity transmission, internet connectivity, etc. Rebuilding efforts for these infrastructure assets tend to be lengthy and costly.

How can the expertise of engineering experts and the insurance/reinsurance industry be brought together to deepen our understanding of the risks and challenges faced by infrastructure owners/operators? How can this combined expertise be utilized to enable resiliency investment and more efficient risk transfer to the insurance markets? Please join us for this session to learn more!
